Calculate salary and take-home
How it works
Annual salary and hourly rate are linked by 2,080 working hours per year: Annual = Hourly × 2,080 and Hourly = Annual ÷ 2,080. When you change one field, the other updates so both stay in sync. If you enter an estimated tax rate, take-home is computed as gross × (1 − rate/100). This is a simplified model; real withholdings depend on brackets and deductions.
Example: $52,000 per year equals $25 per hour. With a 25% tax assumption, take-home is $39,000 per year or about $18.75 per hour after tax.
When to use it
Use this when comparing a salaried offer to an hourly role, or to quickly see how a raise affects hourly equivalent and take-home. For precise paychecks use an official payroll or tax calculator for your jurisdiction.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the take-home estimate accurate? It uses a flat percentage for illustration. Real paychecks depend on tax brackets, deductions, and location. Use it for ballpark comparison only.
- How many working hours per year are used? We use 2,080 hours (52 weeks × 40 hours). Part-time or different schedules need manual adjustment.
